About the project

Police radiosets operate at very low frequency with extremely limited bandwidth, where conventional transmission methods fail. This project enables the transmission of multimedia content — images, audio, and high-level content such as video — over such constrained channels using custom compression.

What I built / how it worked

  • Compression approach — transmitted multimedia by compressing the data with inverse cosine transforms combined with signal-processing techniques so it fits within the extreme bandwidth limits of police radiosets.
  • Multimedia coverage — the system handles images, audio, and video, converting media into a form transmissible over very-low-frequency, low-bandwidth channels where standard methods break down.
  • Recognition — won 1st place among 10 teams in the internal hackathon (April 2023); the same concept was also entered as an SIH-2023 prototype.
